Moorings

Residents Moorings

                                                                                                           Residents moorings

Falmouth Harbour Commissioners operate 588 moorings situated between Customs House Quay and Greenbank Quay and between Flushing New Quay and Kiln Quay. All moorings are deep water moorings, two fifths are private moorings where the seabed only is hired from the Commissioners and the remainder are owned and hired from Falmouth Harbour Commissioners. A Harbour Commissioners hired mooring is maintained annually to a high standard by our purpose built mooring vessel "Pendennis". The moorings are laid in lines with spacing set to suit the various sizes of craft that they are intended to accommodate. The facility lengths range from 5 metre moorings to accommodate the smaller end of the boat spectrum up to a 30 metre mooring.

To ensure fairness of allocation, a waiting list is maintained. The length of the list is maintained at approximately 15% of the number of facilities available within that length band. This ensures that the waiting lists can be opened regularly and that allocations can be made in most cases within a reasonable timescale after a name is accepted on to the list.

The use of moorings is regularly monitored to ensure that they are used by the correct boat. In general, moorings which are not used by the boat to which they are allocated for two consecutive years are liable to reallocation.

Visitors Moorings

                                                                                                                 Visitors moorings

Falmouth has twenty one moorings for visiting boats and these are located on or near to the main channel and have green buoys. We do not take any prior bookings for these facilities. There are eight moorings which will accommodate yachts up to a length of 12.2 metres, six moorings to accommodate yachts up to 18.3 metres, five moorings to accommodate yachts up to 24.38 metres and two moorings to take boats up to 30.48 metres long. The two largest moorings can be used together to make up a fore and aft mooring for vessels between 30.48 and 60.96 metres.

Paying Visitors Moorings customers are also entitled to use

our Visitor Amenities.

Anchorage

An anchorage area, suitable for use by small craft in most conditions, is also available.  The anchorage area is situated near to the Yacht Have between Custom House Quay and Falmouth Docks. There may be a requirement for small craft to move, sometimes at short notice, to facilitate commercial shipping movements to and from Falmouth Docks.

Skippers of vessels using the anchorage should contact the harbour patrol craft or the Harbour Office on VHF Channel 12 or consult the notice board at the top of the Visitors Yacht Haven access bridge for information on shipping movements. Skippers should avoid leaving their vessels unattended for prolonged periods at the anchorage. Paying anchorage customers are also entitled to use our Visitor Amenities.

The Moorings Officer can be contacted at the Falmouth Harbour Office on 01326 312285 during working hours.
