FALMOUTH HARBOUR BOARD APPOINTS NEW COMMISSIONERS

Falmouth Harbour Commissioners have made 3 appointments in accordance with the Falmouth Harbour Revision Order 2004 that came into force on 31 st December.

Advertisements for the new posts were placed in the regional and local press and were well responded to. The selection process required applicants to complete a comprehensive application form and those shortlisted were interviewed.

The Commissioners selection panel was chaired by Deputy Chairman Andrew Bell and also included Cliff Brown, Chairman of the Consultative Committee and John Brown a human resources specialist.

The successful candidates were Peter Fish, David Ellis and Peter Morgan (a serving commissioner who successfully re-applied).

Andrew Bell who chaired the panel stated “overall the standard of candidate was very high and the panel had some difficult decisions to make. I am confident that we have selected outstanding individuals with all the qualities to make excellent commissioners”.

Paul Bickford Chairman of FHC added “I am very pleased to welcome Peter and David to the Board and to welcome back Peter Morgan. It was very gratifying to see such interest in the advertisements and the high calibre of applicants” He also paid tribute to the outgoing commissioners. “Mike Orton and Nick Offord have given great service to us over the last three years and each has made a significant contribution to the considerable progress that we have made as an Organisation. Whilst it is sad to see them go, the nature of our constitution means that we have to accommodate regular changes”.

The new commissioner appointments will run from 1 st January 2005 to 31 st December 2007.
