IN THE EVENT OF FIRE

Once the alarm has been raised, responsibility for initial fire fighting will rest with the Master until the Fire Brigade arrives.  Ship's personnel should therefore start fighting the fire with all available appliances.

On arrival of the Fire Brigade control will pass to the Senior Fire Officer present.

IN THE EVENT OF OIL POLLUTION

Having raised the alarm, the Master is responsible for taking all immediate steps to minimise pollution by stopping any oil overflow or leak and containing as much escaping oil as possible on board.  ON NO ACCOUNT IS OIL DISPERSANT TO BE APPLIED TO SPILT OIL WITHOUT APPROVAL OF THE HARBOUR MASTER.
