Commercial & Work Craft

                                                                                                                          FHC Workboat Pendennis

Workboats and craft operating commercially for hire within the harbour are normally required to operate to certain standards.

Click here for shipping signals in common use in the port of Truro and in Falmouth harbour and approaches.

Workboats proceeding outside of categorised water limits are required to comply with the Workboat Code. Categorised waters in Falmouth Bay are to landward of a line from Zone Point to Rosemullion Head Summer and to Nare Point in Winter (Summer is 1st April - 31st October).

Vessels carrying passengers are also required to operate to certain standards depending upon their size, type, area of operation and number of passengers carried.

The relevant standards for operating these craft are published by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency. For full information see www.mcga.gov.uk or contact Falmouth Marine Office on 01326 310811.

Small self drive craft let for hire and used exclusively within categorised waters are required to be licensed under Falmouth Harbour Commissioners Bye-laws. Persons wishing to licence such craft should contact the Deputy Harbour Master
